Peacock butterflies are a pretty solid moneymaking bug in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but they need specific conditions in order to thrive.

It’s pretty easy to catch a peacock butterfly once you’ve got them to spawn – just run up to it and swing your net. They aren’t particularly evasive, and don’t despawn if you miss so you’ll be alright even if you’re the clumsy type.

The peacock butterfly is a beautiful creature, and if you give Flick 3, he’ll make you a delightful model.

In order for peacock butterflies to spawn, you’ll need specific conditions. They only appear near black, purple, or blue flowers on an island.

Peacock butterflies sell at Nook’s Cranny for 2,500 bells, and 3,750 bells to Flick. Once you have a lot of fancy flowers, peacock butterflies can be easily harvested for a pretty reliable profit.

When are peacock butterflies available?

You can find peacock butterflies in the Northern Hemiphere between March and June during the daytime, 4am-7pm.

In the Southern Hemisphere, they’re available between September and December, also between 4am and 7pm.
