A warrior Empress is stepping onto the Rift.
Riot Games has announced the next Champion for League of Legends: Qiyana, the Empress of the Elements. She was initially teased via the publisher’s social media channels, before her splash art and music theme were revealed on its YouTube channel shortly after.
There’s not a lot to go on right now, but Riot’s Champion Roadmap back in April gave us some hints as to how Qiyana will play.
”This champion’s arrival will send you deep into the jungles of Runeterra where a brand new faction, hidden from the rest of the world, will reveal itself.”
”This assassin has powers which give them all the elements they need to use their surroundings in clever and innovative ways.”
Judging by Qiyana’s splash art, it’s clear she’ll wield a circular scythe imbued with three elements: Earth, Water and Fire. We reckon these elements will correspond to each of her abilities and dictate her playstyle, perhaps resembling Sona’s auras in some respects.
Our bet’s on Fire for powerful swings, Earth for crowd control, and Water for area-of-effect damage.
Riot also previously confirmed Qiyana’s status as an Assassin, so there’s no doubt she’ll be quick around the Rift and capable of dishing out some serious damage with that weapon of hers.
Moving onto Qiyana’s musical theme, and it’s a thunderous orchestral number, driven by crashing drums and soaring violins. It’s definitely a theme fit for a warrior empress who means business.
Riot is yet to announce Qiyana’s release date but we imagine she’ll be available for testing on the PBE very soon. Keep on eye on the site for all the latest news on this upcoming Champion.
