The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2019 has reached the knockout stages, and we now know which teams will be facing off for a spot in the finals.
Having placed top of their group, Invictus Gaming had a choice between who they wanted to face in the semi-finals: Team Liquid or G2. The Chinese super squad opted for Team Liquid, which sets up SKT versus G2 in the other semi-final match.
It’s unsurprising that Invictus Gaming went for Team Liquid over G2, as the North American side barely scraped their way into the knockout stages and have showcased some pretty ropey performances throughout the tournament. While G2 hasn’t managed a win over Invictus either, their second place finish proves that they’re a real threat – and definitely the matchup to skip out on.
Invictus Gaming must be feeling pretty confident they can nab the win, and the MSI trophy for that matter. They’ve been indomitable so far, having only dropped one game in the Group Stage and even recording the fastest victory in an international match for good measure.

Perhaps the most exciting match of the lot, SKT versus G2 will likely be an absolute cracker.
G2 has gotten the better of SKT twice in the Group Stage, but the Korean side has shown remarkable growth as MSI has progressed. They demolished Invictus Gaming in their last match, and they’re also known for producing their finest play in best-of-fives.
Having brushed off SKT twice already, G2 will be feeling confident they can take the series and progress to the finals. They’ve performed extremely well throughout MSI and their unique picks coupled with their explosive, unpredictable playstyle could be the key to felling the Korean giants.
The MSI 2019 semi-finals kick off from tomorrow, with Invictus Gaming versus Team Liquid on the 17th May, followed by SKT versus G2 on the 18th.
