Swim’s Elusive Burn deck revolves around buffing your Elusive units up and hitting face for big damage. Meanwhile, you’ll use your spells like Deny, Vile Feast and Avalanche to keep your units alive and control the board. It’s then a case of using Back to Back or Relentless Pursuit to deliver lethal, or at least pile the pressure on and pave the way for a finisher.

General Strategy
To win with this deck, your aim is to buff your Elusive units, stick them on the board and whittle down your opponent’s health round after round. You’ll have a bunch of spells which should help keep your units alive, save yourself from too much damage, or push for lethal if you’ve got board control.
Early Game: Early on it’s important to apply some pressure early. Greenglade duo is a useful face-hitter which you shouldn’t worry about losing, simply chuck her out there and get some damage off. You’ll want to play out your Shadow Assassin’s and seek out your Kinkou Lifeblades with the card draw.
We’d recommend saving your spells for the mid to late game, as they’re vital for tipping your damage into lethal, or surviving a particularly scary board. Don’t get overzealous too early.
Mid Game: By this point we want to be buffing your Kinkou Lifeblade with Laurent Bladekeepr or Inspiring Mentor. Use Navori Conspirator to keep the buffs rolling if possible, and use Solitary Monk to save your units if the enemy gets desperate and whips out a board clear.
Stick a Dawnspeakers on the board but don’t play them out for added buffs. Fleetfeather Tracker and Laurent Protege can help you sneak in more face damage, and deal with the opponent’s Elusive/Fearsome units.
A quick Riposte on a buffed Kinkou Lifeblade, or other unit, can keep you alive and wipe out some big units.
Late Game: At this point you’ll be looking to play out your buffed Elusive units, hopefully combining them with Back to Back, Riposte or Stand Alone to secure lethal. Deny can be used to halt the enemy’s response, and your Challenger units can also help guarantee you hit face.

Elusive Burn Mulligan guide
These are the cards you’ll want to nab at the start of each match with this deck:
- 1. Greenglade Duo: Easy to secure decent damage early. If enemy hasn’t dealt with her, you can begin buffing to increase her threat, which’ll likely force the enemy to respond.
- 2. Kinkou Lifeblade: Can’t be used right away, but great to have in your hand or on the board early so you can begin buffing them up.
- 3. Inspiring Mentor: Cheap to play, strong buff, can be recalled to continue the buff train.
- 4. Navori Conspirator: Can be used to recall Inspiring Mentor (or others) to repeatedly buff units, or to save them from certain death.
- 5. Navori Highwayman: These guys act as great blockers.
Elusive Burn tips, combos and synergies
Below we’ve put together a handful of tips to help you pilot this deck effectively. As the meta shakes out we’ll update this section, so stay tuned for all the latest!
– Kinkou Lifeblade’s the perfect target for sustained buffs as they’ll grant you strong lifesteal on top of damage.
– Back to Back isn’t just a finishing tool, but can be used for survival. Stick it on a couple of units to keep your units alive during a particularly hairy block.
– Use your recalls on Inspiring Mentor and Laurent Bladekeeper to keep the buffs rolling, but take into account the situation – don’t make yourself vulnerable just for the buff.
– Solitary Monk is fantastic for clearing your units off the board if the enemy has used a board clearing spell like Avalanche. It can also be used on some strong damage units to reset their stats – then bring them back to life!
– Fleetfeather Tracker and Laurent Protege are great tools for sneaking in face damage. They can also be buffed by Stand Alone and transformed into big minion clears.
– Navori Highwayman is a perfect blocking tool, and combos quite nicely with Dawnspeakers, as if they perish, Dawnspeakers will buff any other units on your board.
